Our Story

More than just a place to rest your head - it's where memories get made and souls find peace

Vancouver waterfront

Where It All Started

Look, we're not gonna pretend we've been here since the 1800s or anything. Kythariel Quintal opened its doors in 2018, and honestly? That's exactly what makes us different.

The founders - Elena Kythariel and Marcus Quintal - had this wild idea after spending years traveling the globe, staying at every fancy hotel you can imagine. They kept asking themselves: "Why can't a luxury hotel feel like... home? But, you know, a really amazing home where someone else does the dishes?"

So they picked this incredible spot on Pacific Boulevard, brought together some seriously talented folks, and built something that blends West Coast chill with that elevated touch you'd expect from a five-star spot. We're talking floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water, a spa that'll melt your stress away, and a restaurant that's become a destination on its own.

"We wanted to create a space where busy people could actually unwind - and we mean really unwind, not just collapse from exhaustion."

- Elena Kythariel, Co-Founder

The Journey So Far

A few milestones we're pretty proud of

2018 - The Beginning

Opened our doors in June with just 45 rooms. The first guest? A travel writer who gave us a glowing review that basically put us on the map overnight. No pressure or anything.

2019 - Growing Pains & Gains

Expanded the wellness center after realizing our spa was booked solid three months in advance. Also won our first "Best Boutique Hotel" award from Vancouver Tourism - we may have celebrated a bit too enthusiastically that night.

2020 - The Plot Twist

Yeah, that year. Instead of closing up shop, we pivoted hard - became a temporary residence for healthcare workers, perfected our contactless services, and came out stronger. Built a community we're genuinely proud of.

2021 - The Comeback

Reopened with enhanced wellness programs and a completely revamped dining experience. Chef Martine joined us and turned our restaurant into something people actually make reservations for weeks ahead.

2022 - Recognition Rolls In

Snagged the Condé Nast Traveler's "Top 50 Hotels in Canada" spot and got featured in like a dozen international magazines. Our Instagram started popping off too - turns out people really dig our sunset views.

2023-Present - Still Evolving

Launched our sustainability initiative (we're aiming for carbon neutral by 2025), added outdoor adventure packages, and keep finding ways to make your stay even better. The journey continues...

What Guests Are Saying

"Honestly didn't expect to fall in love with a hotel, but here we are. From the moment we walked in, everything just felt... right. The staff remembered our names, the room was perfect, and that spa? Life-changing. Already planning our next visit."

- Jennifer M., Seattle

Our Philosophy

Here's the thing - luxury shouldn't feel stuffy or pretentious. It should feel like coming home to the best version of your life.

We believe in real connections, not transactional interactions. In experiences that matter, not just amenities to check off a list. In sustainability that actually means something, not greenwashing for marketing points.

Every decision we make - from the organic cotton sheets to the locally-sourced restaurant ingredients to the art on the walls - is about creating a space where you can be your authentic self. Whether that's power-networking in our conference rooms or face-planting into a massage table after a long week.

We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We're just trying to be exactly what you need when you walk through our doors.
